I did not need anything fancy so I bought this model and what a mistake. Spend a little more and buy something better. I WILL NEVER BUY A Char-Broil again and I do not recommend anything they sell now. The assembly was a nightmare. Some of the parts did not fit and I had to order more. I cant get the hood to stay up. As one person said not even a penny is worth spending on this grill and I agree. Please spend a few dollars more and a different brand.

The engineering on this grill as well as the instructions were HORRIBLE. I can make no comment about how well it does or does not function as I am taking mine back. Like someone else said, you get what you pay for and I wouldn’t give one red penny for this one.

I tried to put the grill together and the instructions were not clear and some pieces did no fit together. The building instructions say 30-40 minutes but it took more than two hours to build 3/4 of it. Dont buy the grill it is cheap.

I had a CharBroil unit before this one that lasted me fifteen years, so I thought I’d try another. This is a great little unit. It is a little wider than my previous unit, but significantly deeper. The internal design, with its rounded heating container, foil over the burners and larger grill surface make for more even heat distribution and smoother cooking. The plastic side shelves are much less likely to warp the way the cedar ones on my previous unit did and the utensil hangers on them are very convenient. Its push button lighter works like a charm and the match holder on a chain that comes with the unit is a nice accessory. All the listed parts came with it, but you have to read the assembly manual VERY carefully to avoid having to go back and do things over as it is not intuitive at all. The only real neagtive about this unit is the assembly time. The 45 minutes listed in the manual is ridiculous. Only someone who is very mechanically inclined AND has done it before could assemble this grill in that time. It took me over three hours.

I used this grill on a tri tip for my first run with it. The flame is hard to control, it is either too low or too high, difficult to find a nice medium. The grill platform is too close to the actual flame and fatty meat catches on fire. This is a good grill for dogs and burgers or maybe skirt steaks, but if you are a serious griller that does it big, you are much better off with a regular weber or a more expensive gas grill. This took two hours to put together, it was a pain for me and my brother. Overall a 2 out of 5.
